Question 1

Which classes come under senior secondary education in India?

Accepted Answer

Classes 11 and 12 form the senior secondary stage. Students usually choose a stream such as Science, Commerce or Humanities and prepare for the final board examination at the end of Class 12.

Question 2

What is the difference between secondary and senior secondary school?

Accepted Answer

Secondary covers Classes 9 and 10 with a broad subject mix and the first board exam. Senior secondary covers Classes 11 and 12 with stream-based specialisation and the final board exam that supports college admission.

Question 3

Which streams are available in Class 11 and 12?

Accepted Answer

The three main streams are Science (PCM or PCB), Commerce, and Humanities or Arts. Availability varies by school, so confirm the exact subject combinations being taught in the current session.

Question 4

How do I choose the right senior secondary school in Jaipur?

Accepted Answer

Begin by verifying affiliation up to Class 12, then compare streams, subject teachers, entrance exam support, results in context and commute. Visiting at least three schools with your child and asking each the same questions gives the fairest comparison.

Question 5

Does IGCSE cover Class 11 and 12?

Accepted Answer

Usually not. IGCSE is normally taken at the end of Class 10. Schools following the Cambridge route typically offer AS and A Levels in Classes 11 and 12, while others move students to CBSE. Ask the school which qualification your child will finish with.

Question 6

When does senior secondary school admission in Jaipur usually start?

Accepted Answer

Most admissions follow Class 10 results, with CBSE results typically arriving in May. Many schools open registration earlier and confirm seats provisionally, so check the current calendar directly with each school.

Question 7

Can a student change stream after Class 11 begins?

Accepted Answer

Policies vary. Some schools allow a change within a short window at the start of the session, subject to seat availability and subject eligibility. Ask about the rule before admission, not after.
