Question 1

What are the documents required for school admission in India?

Accepted Answer

Most schools ask for the child’s birth certificate, Aadhaar card, address proof, passport size photographs and parent ID. Students changing schools also need a transfer certificate and the last report card, and some schools add an immunisation record for nursery and kindergarten.

Question 2

Is Aadhaar mandatory for school admission?

Accepted Answer

No. Aadhaar is not legally required for admission, although most schools collect it for records. If your child does not have it yet, the enrolment slip is usually accepted for the time being.

Question 3

Is a birth certificate compulsory for nursery admission?

Accepted Answer

Almost every school asks for it because age decides eligibility for nursery. For elementary classes, the Right to Education Act says a child cannot be denied admission only for lack of age proof, but it is still best to obtain the certificate early.

Question 4

What if my child does not have a transfer certificate yet?

Accepted Answer

You can usually apply for provisional admission and submit the TC within a deadline set by the school, often 30 to 60 days. Inform the school in advance and ask for the arrangement in writing.

Question 5

Do the documents required for school admission differ between CBSE and Cambridge schools?

Accepted Answer

The core list is similar across boards. Small differences arise from the class, the school’s policy and whether the child is switching boards. Subodh Global School offers both CBSE and Cambridge pathways, so it is sensible to confirm the current list with the admissions office.

Question 6

Which documents are needed if my child is moving from another state or country?

Accepted Answer

Expect to provide the transfer certificate, previous report cards, ID and address proof. For students returning from abroad, schools may also ask for a passport and translated or attested records, so begin two to three months early.

Question 7

Should I submit original documents or photocopies?

Accepted Answer

Carry the originals for verification and submit self attested photocopies. A few schools may ask for copies attested by an official, so confirm this in advance.

Question 8

What is the minimum age for Class 1 admission?

Accepted Answer

Under CBSE guidelines aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, a child should be 6 years old by the cut off date, commonly 31 March of the admission year. Verify the exact date with your school.
